Her doctoral research at the University of Alcalá (Madrid) focuses on early psychopathology and the sequence of therapeutic response in psychotic disorders, examining longitudinal changes in cold cognition, social cognition, and emotion-related (hot) cognitive processes.
Dr Laherrán Cantera holds specialist certification in autism diagnostic assessment, including ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised, accredited Cornell/UCL/Newcastle), ADOS-2, and the 3di (Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview, UCL/Great Ormond Street Hospital). She has also completed specialist training in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of ADHD in adults at Maudsley Learning (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust).
She has completed the Master Psychopharmacology Program at the Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) with distinction, and has undertaken clinical observerships at Orygen (Melbourne) and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, gaining experience in early intervention programmes for young people.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Laherrán Cantera leads and collaborates on multiple international systematic reviews and meta-analyses in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a particular focus on early-onset psychosis, cannabis use in adolescents, and cognitive remediation. She holds leadership roles within European psychiatric trainee networks, serving as Chair of the EFPT Neuropsychopharmacology Working Group and as European Representative for SERP (Spanish Society of Psychiatry Residents).
Dr Laherrán Cantera is committed to providing thorough, evidence-based, and compassionate psychiatric care tailored to each individual and their family.
