Comprehensive ADI-R Autism Assessments for Children, Adolescents and Adults

At Online Psychiatry, we provide specialist online ASD assessments using the internationally recognised gold-standard tool: the Autism Diagnostic Interview–Revised (ADI-R). Our assessments are structured, evidence-based and delivered by consultant psychiatrists with extensive experience in Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Each assessment delivers a clear diagnostic outcome, a comprehensive clinical report, guidance on treatment and support options, and a personalised plan for next steps.

Whether you are seeking clarity for yourself, your child or your adolescent, our ASD assessment pathway is designed to be thorough, supportive and as convenient as possible with all appointments conducted online.

Our goal is to give you a clear, accurate diagnosis and a practical treatment plan as quickly and safely as possible. You can book your first appointment online today with no referral required.

ASD Assessments for
Adults (18+)

We provide gold-standard ASD assessments for adults using the ADI-R, adapted appropriately for adult developmental history. Our clinical approach is supportive, respectful and designed to provide clarity for individuals who may have reached adulthood without a formal diagnosis.

What the Adult ASD Assessment Includes

The adult ASD pathway follows the same gold-standard three-step structure:

1. First Appointment

(60 min)

Your psychiatrist will assess your symptoms, history, daily functioning, childhood signs, and possible co-occurring conditions.

If another condition better explains your difficulties, the ASD pathway can be discontinued and alternative support provided, with a partial refund for remaining appointments.

2. Second Appointment

(90 min)

ADI-R with Assessment

The ADI-R is conducted with parents or caregivers to assess early developmental behaviour and social functioning. Additional questionnaires may screen for coexisting conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, or executive functioning difficulties.

3. Final Appointment

(45 min)

Your psychiatrist will provide feedback, explain the diagnostic outcome, send a full clinical report, and discuss treatment and support options for ASD and any coexisting conditions.

Timeline

Adult assessments are typically completed within 2–4 weeks, depending on complexity and availability of caregivers.

Fees

The adult ASD assessment includes four hours of clinical evaluation.

Fee: 1600 GBP

If Parents or Caregivers Are Unavailable

We can proceed with an adult ASD assessment without caregiver involvement; however, we will not be able to complete the ADI-R, and therefore the assessment will not follow the gold-standard methodology.

If this applies to you, please inform us when booking so we can discuss adapted options.

ASD Assessments for Children &
Adolescents (4+)

Our child and adolescent ASD assessment is tailored to help families understand autistic traits, behavioural patterns and developmental history. The assessment relies on the ADI-R, conducted with parents or primary ensuring a detailed evaluation of communication, social interaction and behaviour consistently present from early childhood.

What the ASD Assessment Includes

We conduct ASD assessments for young people through a structured three-step approach:

1. First Appointment

(60 min)

Your psychiatrist meets the child/adolescent and parents for an in-depth interview covering current concerns, developmental history, reasons for assessment, and possible coexisting conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, learning difficulties, or depression. If another condition is identified, the assessment can be stopped and treatment for the new condition started.

2. Second Appointment

(90 min)

ADI-R with a Parent or Caregiver

If initial findings suggest autistic traits, a full ADI-R is conducted with parents or caregivers. The psychiatrist reviews early childhood behaviour, communication, social interaction, repetitive behaviours, sensory sensitivities, and daily functioning. Additional questionnaires may screen for coexisting symptoms like anxiety, depression, or ADHD.

3. Final Appointment

(45 min)

The final session provides full feedback, answers your questions, delivers a comprehensive report, and discusses treatment and support for ASD and any comorbidities. If ASD is diagnosed, tailored therapy and additional resources are recommended.

Timeline

We aim to complete assessments within 2 to 4 weeks, depending on complexity and questionnaire turnaround times.

Fees

Our ASD assessment includes three appointments totalling four hours of clinical time.

Fee: 1,600 GBP

Preparing for the ADI-R

Before the ADI-R, we recommend that parents review photos or videos of the child between ages 3 and 5, as many questions relate to this developmental period.

If ASD Traits Are Not Evident After the First Appointment

If the psychiatrist does not identify sufficient ASD traits to justify completing the ADI-R, you may choose to stop the process and request a refund for remaining appointments.
Alternatively, you may still choose to proceed with the full ADI-R.
